Welcome to Firefly Spa: Your Massage Questions, Answered

If you’re new to massage or simply curious about what really happens during a session, you’re in the right place. We hear many great questions, including a few that start with “my friend was wondering,” and we love that curiosity. This guide covers our most common questions so you can walk into your session feeling informed, relaxed, and ready to enjoy every moment.

✨ What to Expect During Your First Massage at Firefly Spa

Your therapist will begin with a friendly check‑in about your health history and any areas that need attention, using a short questionnaire form. After reviewing your answers, they’ll ask for any needed clarification, then guide you to the treatment room and explain how to get comfortable on the table. Before stepping out, your therapist will point out helpful features in the room—like where to place your clothes on the chair, where to set any jewelry in the small dish, and how to adjust the drape once you’re settled. When you’re comfortably positioned on the table with the sheet covering you, you’ll ring the small bell near the head of the bed to let your therapist know you’re ready for them to return. During your massage, we check in about pressure and comfort so you feel supported and relaxed throughout your session.

✨ What Should I Wear During My Massage?

You can undress to your comfort level, whether that means undressing fully or keeping underwear on, and both choices are completely okay. You’ll always be draped with a sheet, and only the area being worked on is uncovered.

✨ Can I Wear Socks During My Massage?

Yes, absolutely. If warm feet help you relax or you simply prefer to keep socks on, that’s perfectly fine.

✨ What Do I Do With My Arms?

Your therapist will gently move or position your arms when needed, and if anything feels awkward, just let us know so we can adjust.

✨ Will the Massage Hurt?

Massage should never feel painful, though some techniques can feel intense on tight muscles; if the pressure feels off, we’re always happy to adjust.

✨ Do I Have to Talk During the Massage?

Not at all. Some clients enjoy chatting, while others settle into quiet relaxation, and we follow your lead.

✨ What If I Fall Asleep or Snore?

It happens all the time, and falling asleep simply means your body feels safe enough to fully relax!

✨ What If I Accidentally Pass Gas?

This is a common “my friend was wondering” question, and it’s completely normal because massage relaxes the nervous system and digestion, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed.

✨ What Areas Will Be Massaged?

A full‑body massage usually includes the back, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, hands, feet, and head, and you can always request extra focus on certain areas or skip any area you prefer.

✨ Can You Massage Over Tattoos?

Healed tattoos can be massaged normally, but if a tattoo is new or sensitive, just let us know and we’ll work around it.

✨ What Is CBD Massage?

CBD massage uses a CBD‑infused oil that may help reduce inflammation, ease muscle soreness, and support deeper relaxation without any psychoactive effects.

✨ What Is Cupping and Does It Hurt?

Cupping uses gentle suction to increase circulation and release tight muscles, and while it can feel intense, it shouldn’t be painful; circular marks are normal and fade within a few days.

✨ What Are Hot Stones Used For?

Hot stones warm and soften tight muscles, improve circulation, and allow deeper work without extra pressure, making them especially helpful for tension in the back, neck, and shoulders.

✨ Can I Get a Massage While Pregnant?

Yes, we offer prenatal massage for clients past their first trimester, and letting us know when booking helps us pair you with a prenatal‑trained therapist.

✨ Can Minors Receive Massage?

Yes, minors can receive massage with a parent or guardian’s signed consent, and additional policies may apply depending on age.

✨ What Should I Do Before My Massage?

Arrive a few minutes early to allow for parking, using the restroom and allowing yourself to start quieting your mind. We also recommend to drink some water, and avoid heavy meals right before your session.

✨ What Should I Do After My Massage?

Hydrate well, move slowly as you get up, and take the rest of the day at an easy pace, since mild soreness can happen after deeper work.

✨ What If I’m Running Late?

We do our best to accommodate you, but late arrivals may shorten your session so we can stay on schedule, and full service fees still apply.

✨ Is Tipping Expected?

Tips are appreciated but never required, and most clients choose to tip between 15–25%.
