Dermaplaning Takes Flight at Firefly!
There’s always something new at Firefly, and I’m especially excited about the latest service we’ve added to our treatment menu: dermaplaning! What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive procedure that revives your complexion. During the session, an esthetician carefully resurfaces the outer layers of the skin using a small scalpel-like instrument to uncover a fresh, youthful-looking complexion.
Clients use dermaplaning to minimize acne scars as well as fine lines, dark spots, and other signs of aging caused by too much UV exposure. It’s also effective at removing unwanted tufts of peach fuzz from your face.
And you’ll be happy to know that dermaplaning isn’t painful. Our estheticians are experts at gently scraping the older layers of skin from your complexion. The blade she uses is very small, and it never cuts into the skin.
What to Expect at Your Dermaplaning Appointment
Like our other services, your dermaplaning treatment is customized to your needs. Your esthetician will talk about your skin concerns and your treatment goals, and together you both can decide what areas you want to focus on during your session.
During the treatment, you can relax comfortably while she works her magic with the scalpel (also known as a dermatome). Once you’re finished, she will give you care instructions to follow at home, which include moisturizing your newly revealed skin to keep it hydrated. You may have some redness or swelling post-treatment but that typically fades away soon. The new skin should be fully revealed within a couple of weeks after dermaplaning, but you should avoid vigorous exercise for a few weeks and always remain vigilant about limiting sun exposure.
