Getting Wedding-Ready: What You Need to Know
As your wedding day approaches, it’s natural to want to look and feel your absolute best. The right spa and beauty treatments will do just that, while also giving you a relaxing break during the hectic days, weeks, and months leading up to the ceremony!
We love working with all the brides who entrust us with their self-care routines. Weddings are joyous occasions, and we do everything we can to make sure our clients are happy every time they come to Firefly for their wedding prep. If you’ve got your venue booked and your save-the-date cards mailed out, it’s never too early to establish a treatment schedule so you look wonderfully radiant by the time it gets to your special day. We encourage all brides-to-be to contact us to set up a customized plan, but here are some general guidelines to get you started:
Massages
A luxurious massage is perfect for unwinding and de-stressing from wedding planning. Schedule a massage each month leading up to your wedding day to release tension and promote relaxation on a regular basis. A deep tissue massage can alleviate any muscle soreness, while a Swedish massage will soothe your body and mind. At Firefly, we have various massage options, and every treatment is customized to meet your specific needs. And don’t forget that your groom probably needs a little TLC, too, and a couples massage makes a romantic gift so the two of you can spend some time together without discussing the catering menu or guest list!
Waxing
When it comes to silky smooth skin, waxing is your best friend. If you’re new to this type of treatment, you may want to give it a test run at least three months before the wedding to see how your skin reacts in terms of sensitivity and redness. (That’s especially true if you are removing any peach fuzz from your face.) After that, for the smoothest results, book monthly maintenance treatments, with your final appointment timed four or five days before your wedding. Opt for a full-body wax to ensure that every inch of your skin is silky soft, and that can include your legs, underarms, and bikini area.
Spray Tan
There’s nothing like the contrast between a creamy white wedding dress and glowing, sun-kissed skin. A spray tan can work wonders without unhealthy UV exposure, providing a natural-looking bronze to enhance your bridal beauty. Schedule your spray tan appointment two days before your wedding day so the tan sets. Kristi, our spray tan specialist, will personalize your tan so it’s just the right shade of radiance!
Facials
Every bride deserves to have a glowing complexion on her wedding day. Treat yourself to a series of facials leading up to the big day. Start your treatments at least six months before your ceremony, and schedule facials at regular intervals (usually every three to four weeks, depending on what your esthetician recommends) to address specific concerns like hydration, brightening, or firming. Schedule your final facial a week before your wedding to allow your skin to fully absorb the benefits. And when we work with you over the long term, our estheticians get to know your skin and can make customized recommendations. (Pro tip: Get a paraffin treatment to soften your hands as an enhancement during your last facial, because you know everyone is going to be looking at your wedding ring!)
Brow and Lash Treatments
Your brows and lashes frame your face, so make sure they’re on point for your wedding day. If you’re new to brow tinting and laminating, schedule your first appointment three months out from the ceremony to see how you like the final look. Then, transition to monthly maintenance leading up to your last appointment two days prior to the wedding. And for long, luscious lashes that will look beautiful in all your photos, consider booking an appointment for lash extensions two to three days before your ceremony.
