Gorgeous Skin on the Go

We hope you have some exciting summer vacation plans, whether you’re jetting off to Europe, relaxing on a tropical island, or enjoying a staycation in beautiful San Diego at one of our luxury resorts! Wherever you travel, you need to bring your skincare routine with you. For some of us, we’d probably need an extra carry-on bag to hold all our lotions and potions, but that’s not always practical. So here are our tips for packing your skincare and maintaining your natural radiance anywhere you go!

Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen

We can’t say it enough: You need to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays. Exposure can lead to cosmetic no-nos like fine lines and hyperpigmentation, but it can also raise your risk of sun-related skin cancers.

Depending on how much time you’ll be active outdoors during your vacation, you’ll want to pack a broad-spectrum, minimum SPF 30 sunscreen for the body as well as a tinted product for your face. (We offer a comprehensive sunscreen collection to help you find what you’re looking for. During your trip, make sure to apply 1 ounce of sunscreen all over your body; don’t forget areas like the tips of your ears or your feet; and re-apply your sunscreen about every two hours (or less, if you are sweating or swimming). Don’t worry about trying to get a vacation tan—that’s what our spray tans are for!

Pack for Your Destination

What will the climate be at your vacation spot? That can determine the types of products you’ll want to bring with you. For instance, if you’re going somewhere hot and humid, you’ll need lightweight, oil-free moisturizers and gel cleansers. Maybe you’ll be adventuring at higher altitudes during a mountain getaway. In drier air, choose creamier products to prevent chapped, tight skin.

Stick to the Essentials

If you need to travel light, pare down your skincare routine to its essence. You’ll want a cleanser to refresh your complexion and wash away dirt and any excess oil. An all-purpose serum can hydrate, brighten, and tone, eliminating the need for multiple products. (If your skin is super dry and you won’t be in a humid climate, you can consider swapping the serum for a moisturizer.) Then, of course, you’ll finish your daytime routine with sunscreen. Want some extra pampering? A thin sheet mask can easily be slipped into a makeup bag. Finally, if you’re spending long hours on an airplane, a refreshing facial spray can keep your skin looking and feeling great.

Handle Products with Care

You don’t want to arrive at your hotel or AirBnB only to find that your cleanser has spilled all over the inside of your suitcase. Some practical tips to keep in mind:

  • Opt for travel-size versions of your products or put them in travel containers, even if you aren’t flying. You’ll be able to fit everything in your makeup bag so it closes easily and securely.
  • Use a clear, sturdy makeup bag for packing to see all your products (and ensure you don’t forget anything).
  • Try using a powder or wipes for travel skincare to reduce the number of liquids (and bottles for those liquids) you need to pack.

Before you pack, order skincare products from our online store, or stop by for an in-person consultation and shopping experience to select the products that will be your perfect travel companions!
